ABOUT THE DESIGNER

Hi, Val Stansbury here. I have been working as an independent designer for about 20 years, starting out designing for print and evolving to where many of the materials I develop today are delivered electronically. My career path includes several years in association marketing, starting out as a production assistant (read underpaid designer) and progressing over several years to be the marketing director for a relatively large educational association, developing marketing objectives, strategy, positioning, and directing the creation of materials to promote membership, conferences, publications and programs. But as I climbed the management ladder, I found myself being jealous of my staff, who got to have all the fun. So, I went out on my own as Stansbury Creative Services.
